7th Annual Run for the Generations 5K
5K Raises Funds and Excitement for CASS
About 140 runners and walkers supported older adults by participating in the 7th annual Run for the Generations 5K.
Run for the Generations in 2019 raised $14,300 to help CASS provide services to seniors. Since being founded, the event has raised $122,300.
In 2018, rain washed out the event. But on Sept. 8, 2019, the skies were sunny as the runners and walkers made their way through the historic Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. Many runners competed for trophies – being cheered on by volunteers ringing cowbells. Other took a more leisurely pace – some pushing strollers – over the 3.1-mile course.
The ages of the participants spanned more than 90 years. The oldest entrant was 92-year-old Richard Soller of North Bend, who finished in 44 minutes, 28 seconds.

The event benefitted older adults who have inadequate access to transportation, food, social interaction and protection from abuse.
The 8th annual Run for the Generations 5K is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020.
